Michael Van Lieven
Founder & Australian Director (2015)
Mike is one of the founders of PBO Global and our current Director for Australia. He is dedicated in sharing the value of outsourcing, especially to small and medium-size Australian businesses. At present, he is also engaged in the telecommunications industry being a Licensee of an Optus Business Centre. Prior to this, Mike had a 15 meaningful years of business partnership with Telstra from which he was able to grow his own business from one site to a group of four businesses in Sydney: two Telstra Retail stores and two B2B Telstra Business Centres.
Mike started his career as an educator before he moved into Corporate Business in 1986, starting with a 9-year career with Kodak (Australasia), where he began at grassroots and climbed into State and National roles in West Australia and East Coast Brisbane. He then advanced into holding roles in State & National Operations & Marketing of Kodak in Queensland and Sydney. In 1995, Mike joined OPSM, Australia’s largest Optical Retailing group, where he served as NSW Operations Manager and later as National Marketing Manager. During 1997, he became a part of an Australian OPSM acquisition team sent to Hong Kong for 6 months who were charged with integrating an Optical Retail Group across Hong Kong & Singapore with the new Australian parent.
In the year 2000, he bid farewell to OPSM and worked together with his wife for two years to establish a Market Research Business. Mike also spent two years as State Manager of Bakers Delight in Sydney before he established his own business with Telstra.
But it isn’t all work and no play with Mike. He always finds time to do the things he is passionate at such as road cycling and BMW motorcycles.
Mike is an alumnus of Deakin University where he finished his Master in Business Administration and of Curtin University where he accomplished his Bachelor of Arts Major in Film and Television.
He prefers coffee over tea.
